If you’re like me, you might assume Madison has enough pizza. But when the owners of the Red Pepper Deli opened a sister restaurant, I had to check it out. After two visits in three days, I’m becoming a fan.
When I say downtown, I mean the West end of Main Street. The new pizzeria is on the corner of West Main and Cragmont – right across the street from The Red Pepper.
This same building has housed a handful of pizza places, including Chicago’s Pizza for several years. With the latest remodel this new eatery should stick around.
The interior feels more like a sports bar, with large screen flat screens on every wall. They were tuned to ESPN as one might expect. The lunch crowd was light, but word is just getting out about the new place. In fact, the owners are still building their staff.
I received prompt service and unlimited hospitality on both my visits. The food was excellent and fresh to order. I tried their RPD Special – pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers. It did not disappoint and stuck with the same order on my subsequent visit.
Price: Personal pizzas start around $7, but my order was over $10 after adding a drink. They accept cash & credit.
Hours: Sunday- Thursday 11am-9pm Friday and Saturday 11am-10pm
Address: 842 West Main St. Madison, Ind.
Drinks: They serve bottled beer and wine in many varieties.
Phone: (812) 274-0111, carryout welcome, no delivery (yet)
Parking: Lot space is limited, but that block of Main Street usually has openings.

Bottom Line: Downtown Madison Indiana has gained another solid dinning choice. The Red Pepperoni is well managed and will quickly become a local favorite. If you’ve been to this restaurant, please leave a comment below to share your thoughts.
