If you want to see Madison’s community spirit in action, the Molly Dattilo run is a great place to start. This annual event is now honors a Madison woman who has been missing since 2004. The history goes back even further and you can read about it here.

The 5K run/walk and fun runs have become  a springtime fixture. The event is held on Vaughn Drive, along the waterfront. The main race attracts hundreds of runners of all abilities. The kids races now include teams from several local elementary schools.

This was my first year to attend the races. Two of my children were part of their school’s running club that trained for children’s events. It was a wonderful morning.

These few hours and the loss they commemorate, bring the community together in a special way. Madison still doesn’t have many answers about Molly’s disappearance, but her spirit lives on in positive ethos of this event.

The video about is from the Molly Dattilo kids races 2011 video that we posted on YouTube.
