It’s been over a year since I visited the Hong Kong Kitchen in downtown Madison. Everyone has noticed the recent upgrade to their exterior storefront, so I stopped by for lunch today.
I was very surprised to see how they’ve remodeled the inside of the restaurant. They now have tile flooring, very nice furniture, and simple displays of Chinese art on the walls.
The family that owns this establishment are immigrants from China. They opened the Hong Kong Kitchen back in 2002. They are very hardworking and service is always prompt and courteous.
They have over 100 different combinations on the menu and everything I’ve tried has been excellent. Today I chose the chicken with broccoli from their lunch specials.
Address: 102 E. Main St. Madison, Ind. Across from Shooter’s Grill and beside the Downtowner Sandwich shop.
Phone: (812) 273-6633/0630
Price: Most items are under $6 with lunch specials closer to $5. Their credit card machine was broken, but I had plenty of cash on hand. Most appetizers are only a few dollars more.
Drinks: Bottled soda, no alcohol.
Parking: Street spots are very limited, I would use the city parking lot on Main Street a few blocks to the West (across from the Comfort Station).
Restrooms: Very nice & clean. Some of the best downtown.
WiFi: Not available, but I could pickup form linksys6 from Madison Coffee & Tea across the street.
Bottom Line: If you like authentic Chinese food, the Hong Kong Kitchen won’t disappoint. The atmosphere and perfect downtown scene makes it hard to miss. If you’ve been to this restaurant, please leave a comment below to share your thoughts.
